Volodymyr Lytvyn, Chairman of The Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine, deems necessary to enhance supervisory function of the Parliament substantially.

V.Lytvyn made the above-mentioned statement while answering the questions of journalists after the meeting with Radoslaw Sikorski, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Poland.

According to the Chairman of The Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine, at the beginning of the next session, the Parliament will scrutinize a number of "highly publicized issues", including adoption of the Cabinet of Ministers Action Plan, the Resolution on Non-Confidence to the Government initiated by 164 Deputies and personnel matters.

Answering the questions concerning new personnel appointments, V.Lytvyn stated the importance of "holding preliminary consultations to secure transparency, and so that people would know that persons appointed to new offices are not connected with party quotas, but professionally trained".

The Chairman of The Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine deems unreasonable to give the vote of non-confidence to the Cabinet of Ministers in the present situationї: "It will intensify uncertainty, confrontation, and collapse of the entire system of authority".

V.Lytvyn is convinced that a new Government can be elected only in case a new coalition is formed.

V.Lytvyn deems necessary to enhance supervisory function of the Parliament substantially. "It is necessary to exert control both over the Government´s activity, and the implementation of all the Laws and resolutions adopted by The Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine. The Constitution states that The Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine adopts the Laws and resolutions. Therefore, all the resolutions passed by The Verkhovna Rada should be realized", - he stated.
